Little Goldstar Black-Eyed Susan | Rudbeckia fulgida
Native cultivar*. This Jelitto introduction is a terrific improvement over the industry standard âGoldsturmâ. While âGoldsturmâ can stand waist-high in bloom with tall, wispy flowering stems, âLittle Goldstarâ is a much more compact, proportional plant. Standing just knee high, this plant forms a bushy, short clump of rich green foliage covered with a dome of closely spaced, starburst-shaped, 2-2½â, golden yellow blossoms held just above the foliage.Â
Very well-branched scapes carry loads of flowers from midsummer through early fall. Over 80 flowers have been counted on a single plant, making this selection more floriferous than 'Goldsturm'.
This plant looks fantastic in containers. It coordinates perfectly with fall potted mums and asters. Â
Height:Â 14.0-16.0 Inches
Spread:Â 14.0-16.0 Inches
Hardiness Zones:Â 4-10
Sunlight:Â Full Sun (> 6 hrs. Direct Sun)Part Shade (4-6 hrs. Direct Sun)
Bloom Time: Midsummer, Late Summer, Early Fall, Long Blooming
Other Notes: Attracts Butterflies, Attracts Songbirds, Bee Friendly
*This plant is a native cultivar, also known as a "Nativar", meaning it was developed by humans for selection or improvements. This plant is a cultivar of the native northeastern species Rudbeckia triloba and Rudbeckia fulgida.Â
